Ventilation Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:  To provide engineering support and technical assistance will all aspects of the underground mining operations, with an emphasis placed towards mine ventilation.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Assist with the design, development and implementation of the mine ventilation system
• Work closely with management and operational personnel to design and maintain an effective ventilation system throughout the mine
• Manage all aspects of the mine ventilation engineering, including planning, supervising and implementation of the mine's ventilation projects
• Maintain an accurate ventilation model of the mine utilizing ICAMPS software
• Utilize the ICAMPS model to simulate proposed ventilation changes and future mining projections
• Will perform certified mine exams
• Economic evaluations of projects
• Preparation and monitoring of short range mine plans
• Interface with mine site, corporate and government regulatory personnel
• Plan and carry out special projects as required by mine management

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum BS in Mining or Civil Engineering
• 5+ Years of underground coal mining experience
• Good working knowledge of continuous miner ventilation systems
• WV Mine Foreman Certification (or the ability to obtain this certification)
• Must have excellent safety management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets
• Experience with AutoCAD and ICAMPS software (VnetPC is also acceptable)
