Underground Shift Foreman

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Provides direction and supervision of mine operations in the areas of safety, production, cost control, efficiency, and skill development.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Coordinates mine plans related to safety, compliance, continuous mining production, maintenance, outby projects, and coal handling.
• Coordinates production and maintenance projects with manpower and supplies for operational activities.
• Leads the implementation, sustainability, and monitoring of health and safety programs and promote behavioral-based safety process.
• Sets expectations for subordinates, manages performance and absenteeism, and conducts appraisal evaluations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Extensive and diverse underground coal mining experience (5+ years of experience)
• 5 years of supervisory experience
• Thorough knowledge of State and Federal Mining laws
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, problem solving and safety management skills
• Basic computer skills
• WV Mine Foreman Certification (current or the ability to acquire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS Degree in Mining Engineering
• EMT-M
• MSHA Dust & Noise Certification
• MSHA Instructor Certification
