Underground Shift Foreman -- 2nd Shift

JOB LOCATION: Beckley Complex, Eccles, WV

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible to assist in the development and supervision of the underground mine, and is responsible for the general operation of the mine in the absence of the General Mine Foreman; supervising the Assistant Shift Foremen, Outby Foremen and Firebosses in the areas of safety, production, cost control, efficiency and skill development. Must also help coordinate all daily activities of the mine and make decisions concerning manpower and supplies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Responsible for coordinating, under the direction of the General Mine Foreman, all mine site shift activities related to safety, compliance, continuous mining production, maintenance, outby projects, and coal handling
• Plan, organize, schedule, and oversee all production and maintenance projects on the assigned shift
• Oversee outby projects such as section moves, seal construction, overcast construction, belt drive installations and construction related projects
• Implement all safety policies and procedures related to an injury free work environment
• Actively support and promote the Behavior Based Safety program -- WOLVES
• Implement, and monitor cost reduction plans and productivity improvements
• Examine daily requirements for manpower and supplies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Extensive and diverse underground coal mining experience (5+ years of experience)
• 5 years supervisory experience
• Thorough knowledge of State and Federal Mining laws
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, problem solving and safety management skills
• Basic computer skills
• WV Mine Foreman Certification (current or the ability to acquire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• EMT-M
• Dust Certification
• MSHA Instructor Certification
