Underground Compliance Foreman

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist the Compliance Manager and mine management team in the development and implementation of safety and training programs, as well as ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and company policies.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct job observations and inspections of underground areas of the mine
• Develop and disseminate safety information to all levels of the hourly and management workforce
• Design curriculum and course content for underground mining operations training programs including annual refresher courses, weekly safety talks, job safety highlights, new hire training, and foreman education programs
• Oversee and conduct regulatory required training
• Develop schedule, and support outside training sources for courses such as EMT-M, electrical qualification, fire training, etc.
• Assist in citation prevention and conferencing of citations
• Assist in injury prevention and conduct injury and near miss investigations, and make recommendations to prevent similar occurrences

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED required
• 7 years of coal mining experience, 5 years of experience in a safety-related position
• Excellent leadership, organizational and analytical skills
• Possess or be able to obtain MSHA Instructor Certification, MSHA Dust Maintenance & Calibration Certification
• West Virginia Underground Foreman certification required
• Proven safety and attendance record
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Engineering, Safety or related field
• 2 years previous supervisory experience
• EMT-M certification
