Environmental Engineer

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Provide effective engineering support to maintain environmental and regulatory compliance and facilitate safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the mine.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Major areas of responsibility will include cost-effective permitting, reclamation, compliance, reporting, analysis, and project work required to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Office Work

• Preparation of water, air, waste, and land quality permit applications and required reporting
• Permitting, environmental design work, and reclamation planning
• Post-mining topography analysis and design
• Design of various sediment and flood-control structures
• Reporting for dewatering wells, sumps, ASCMs, water discharges, water quality, NPDES, SEO, UIC ,and EPA
• Equipment and cost tracking
• Project planning and contract management
• Knowledge of WV permit regulations  and  Epermitting system

Field Work

• Site inspections with government agencies including water, air, and land
• Field verification of compliance measures and designated projects
• Coordination of waste handling and management
• Project work, as needed

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent education/experience
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SurvCADD, SedCAD, PCs, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
• PE certification :    Desired but not required
